Share a task with testers
Send a Vision test task to your testers, know what they go through to record it, and close the link when you have enough.
Each test task has a link for testers. You send it to the people you choose; they open it, install the Flamio extension and record their attempt. Their recordings appear on the task page as they finish.
Before you begin
- You have a launched test task. See Create a test task.
- The task shows the Active pill. The link of an Inactive task does not work.
- You have found your testers. Flamio does not recruit or pay testers, and testers never need a Flamio account.
- Your testers use a Chromium browser: Chrome, Edge or Opera.
Send the link
Open the task
In the sidebar, click Flamio Vision > Test Tasks, then click the task.
Copy the tester link
In the Share with testers card, copy the Session URL — the one marked · for testers.
The Happy-path URL below it is the link for re-recording your own reference run. Don't send it to testers.
Send it to your testers
Send the link yourself — by email, chat, or wherever your testers are. Tell them to open it in Chrome, Edge or Opera.
To have Flamio email the link, use Invite testers by email on the Launch step when you create a task.
Result
As each tester finishes, a new row appears in the task's Recordings table with its Status, Duration and Frictions. See Watch tester recordings.
What your tester goes through
Share these steps with your testers if they get stuck.
- They open the link and see Welcome, tester 👋 with the task name and your task statement.
- If their browser is not Chromium-based, the page shows "Currently, our extension only supports Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera etc.)." and they cannot continue.
- If the extension is missing, the page says "Flamio extension is required to run this test." They click Install extension, add the extension from the Chrome Web Store, and come back to click Reload and check again.
- When the page reads Extension detected, they click Next.
- On Before we start, they tick the consent box and click Let's go. Learn more lists what the extension collects.
- Your site opens with the Flamio panel on it, showing the task. They work through the task, and can Pause and Resume in the panel.
- When they are done, they click Finish in the panel. It shows Thank you for recording. once the recording is uploaded.
If the link answers "This test link is invalid or has expired.", the task is Inactive or the link is wrong.
Testers are recorded
Stop collecting recordings
When you have enough recordings, close the link without deleting anything. You need the Editor, Admin or Owner role.
Open the edit page
In Test Tasks, open the task's Row actions menu (⋯) and click Edit. Or click the pencil icon on the task page.
Turn the task off
Under Task Details, turn off Active.
Save
Click Save.
The task's pill changes to Inactive, and the tester link now answers "This test link is invalid or has expired." To reopen the same link, turn Active back on and save — the link never changes.
