Flamio On-Live

Send and read custom events

Send your own events from your site or app with Flamio.track(), see them on the Events screen, and chart them on a dashboard.

Your site can tell On-Live about the moments that matter to you — a completed sign-up, a played video, a step of your checkout. Send each one with Flamio.track(), and the Events screen lists every event, how often your visitors send it, and the properties it carries.

Custom events need web SDK 0.11.0-beta.1, which is not released yet

npm serves web SDK 0.9.0, and its beta 0.11.0-beta.0 has no Flamio.track(). On those versions the call does not exist, so add it to your site once it runs 0.11.0-beta.1 or later.

Before you begin

  • On-Live is enabled and your site runs the web SDK. Custom events need web SDK 0.11.0-beta.1 or later.
  • Sending an event is one line of code on your site. Any role can read the Events screen.

Send an event from your site

Call Flamio.track() with the event's name and, if you like, its properties:

checkout.ts
import { Flamio } from '@flamioai/web-sdk';

Flamio.track('signup_completed', { plan: 'pro' });

A property holds a string, a number, true, false or null. Properties that hold personal data, such as an email address, are left out.

Open Events

In the sidebar, under Flamio On-Live, click Events. With nothing sent yet, the page reads No custom events yet and shows an example call.

Read the list

Each row is one event your site sent, the most recently seen first: Event, how many your visitors sent in the last 30 days, First seen, Last seen, and its Properties — the first five keys, then how many more.

Open an event

Click a row. The panel shows Events over time — the last 30 days against the 30 days before — and every property key of the event under Properties.

Chart it on a dashboard

On a dashboard, click Add chart, select Custom events, and click the event. It lands as its own chart over time, drawn for the dashboard's period and filters. See Build a dashboard.

Result

Your own events sit beside the clicks, forms and page speed On-Live records: on the Events screen, on dashboards, and in Flami's answers. The Interactions dashboard template adds Custom events by name.

From a mobile app

In an app recorded with the Datadog SDK, a custom action — addAction with the type custom — becomes a custom event. Its name is the action's name, and the simple values of its attributes become its properties. See Record your mobile app.
